Recruitment & Foundation
Identifying high-potential candidates through Future Educator Clubs and career-change seminars. Focus on STEM and Bilingual candidates.
University Preparation
Enrollment in accredited BA programs through our university partners. Core pedagogical coursework and early field experience.
ALTPP Certification (Specialized)
For Arabic educators: A 36-credit hour ISBE-approved licensure program focusing on linguistic proficiency and cultural heritage.
Residency & Placement
100-hour supervised practicum and Teacher Training Year (TTY) residency leading to full-time employment.
Arabic Language Teacher Preparation (ALTPP)
The premier pathway for Arabic language educators in Illinois. Designed for bachelor's degree holders seeking initial licensure.

International Degree Evaluation
For candidates holding degrees from institutions outside the United States, a professional credential evaluation is required for ISBE licensure and university admission.
Evaluation Process
Select an Approved Agency
Choose a provider approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), typically a NACES member.
Request "Course-by-Course"
Select the "Course-by-Course" evaluation type to identify specific credit equivalents and GPA.
Submit Official Transcripts
Send original documents directly to the agency as per their specific requirements.
Receive & Forward Report
Once completed, have the official report sent to ISBE and your target university.

Admission & Certification Requirements
Academic Standing
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 - 3.0 for admission into College of Education programs.
Testing
Submission of SAT/ACT scores and passing scores on state content exams (e.g., ILTS for Illinois).
Clearance
State and federal background checks and fingerprinting required for all field placements.
Clinicals
100+ documented hours of clinical experience working with youth (facilitated by TLVA).
